On Sunday 25 June, the Liantis Urban Trail Brussels is the opener of the Liantis Urban Trail Series 2023, a collection of our country’s most punishing urban runs. The Liantis Urban Trail Series allows participants run past locations and through buildings that are not accessible to the general public on an ordinary day. Runners in Brussels can look forward to a passage right through the Federal Parliament and – like the Red Devils – pause on the balcony of the Town Hall on the Grand Place. Registration is now open!

Start and finish of the Liantis Urban Trail Brussels are right in the centre of our capital at the Place de la Monnaie. Runners can choose between a course of about 6 km and a course of about 12 km. The exact route and all the tough locations and landmark buildings the participants will run past and through will be revealed soon. What the organisers can already reveal is that the Federal Parliament and City Hall are on the route.

With a passage through the Federal Parliament, which is located in the Palace of the Nation and includes the House of Representatives and Senate, participants will literally run through the heart of our democracy. The City Hall on the Grand Place is a masterpiece of flamboyant Gothic architecture and is a Unesco World Heritage Site. Thanks to a passage over the balcony – where the Red Devils celebrated their third place at the World Cup in front of thousands of fans in 2018 and the Red Lions proudly flaunted their Olympic gold medals in 2021 – possibly the country’s most beautiful square is at the feet of the participants.

Benoit Hellings, Councillor for sport of the city of Brussels: “After the massive number of walkers for the Urban Walk on 19 March, the people of Brussels can run the Urban Trail on 25 June! Thanks to this sporting event, you will discover the city while exercising. This edition will welcome thousands of people, so put on your trainers and good luck with the race!”

Sven Gatz, Minister of Finance and Budget in the Brussels Capital Government: “We are proud that the inaugural Liantis Urban Trail Series 2023 will take place in Brussels. Urban runs have also become very popular in our country. The Brussels Urban Trail will truly be an unforgettable gem.”

Philip Van Eeckhoute, Managing Director of Liantis: “For the second year in a row, HR services group Liantis is title partner of the Urban Trail Series. After last year’s successful edition, we are happy to put our shoulders under this great initiative again in 2023. These sporting events fit perfectly into our DNA and what we try to do every day: promote health, well-being and exercise among our entrepreneurs, their employees and our own Liantis colleagues. Moreover, last year we clearly saw that the Urban Trail Series creates positive vibes. It connects people and creates an immense experience for both very sporty people who focus strongly on running and participants who mainly participate for the unique atmosphere. In short: at Liantis, we are very much looking forward to discovering the hidden gems of many cities whilst running together with thousands of runners again.”

After the inaugural run in Brussels, the Liantis Urban Trail Series is also heading to Ghent (22 October), Antwerp (19 November) and Mechelen (9 December) this year.
